Staggies go marching on
Colin McMenamin's 16th goal of the season helped Ross County to a 3-1 victory over relegation-threatened Ayr.
Fellow striker Michael Gardyne had given the Staggies, who recently secured promotion to the Scottish Premier League, the advantage early in the second half before Alan Trouten's leveller, but further goals from McMenamin and Sammy Morrow settled matters.
United's resolve was broken a minute after the interval as Richard Brittain crossed from the right and Gardyne steered home left-footed from inside the box.
Trouten collected Keigan Parker's pass to sweep in the equaliser in the 63rd minute but just four minutes later Paul Lawson whipped in a superb delivery from which McMenamin fired home.
Morrow's close-range finish put the seal on things and extended County's unbeaten league run to 30 matches.
